Serious Flash FictionSerious Flash Fiction is an annual writing competition, challenging people to write a story in one tweet. Winning entries are selected and published in a yearly anthology that is made available through Amazon. If you think you can write a story in just 269 characters (not 280, as you have to use our hashtag to enter), then jump on Twitter and send us your stories using #SFFiction. The competition is open from the mid February to 1st of April every year and pulls together the most creative, capturing and complete flash fiction.
If you fancy having a read of the previous entries then you can find all the anthologies on Amazon (link to the most recent on the right) or use our hashtag #SFFiction to read all the entries on Twitter for free. |
Rowntree Park - Words from a Bench
The Words From a Bench project, was designed to bring stories from new writers into the community. Hosted at Rowntree Park, York and set up by Editor, Karen Green, and Blogger, Cath Mortimer. The project invited submissions from local authors and then linking the best of these submissions to QR codes, which were located on benches around the park. Readers could take a stroll, sit at a bench and access a unique piece of poetry or prose at each bench.
The project started in November 2013 and finished after it's eighth run of publications. After its launch it partnered with a similar project in Reykjavik, Iceland and by the end of the project Icelandic writers were featured in amongst the publications in York and the York writers were published on benches in Reykjavik. The pieces can be accessed at the Friends of Rowntree Park wordpress site. Why not go visit now for a host of free reads. |

Christmas Lites
This charity anthology was released in December of 2013. All money raised was sent to a charity against domestic violence (http://ncadv.org) and the stories themselves were given a Xmas theme with the hope of brightening the holiday season for some of the people the charity helps.
I was very lucky to be invited to submit for this excellent cause. The anthology is an annual event put together by Amy Eye. Huge thanks to Amy for bringing me on board with this. Why not go grab a copy from Amazon to support this excellent cause.
